Capitalism reached a failure point when people could buy an affordable sound system and listen to it for decades without spending another dime, so it got hard at work on one hand playing up audiophile BS (you gotta buy this $1000 cord!!!) and on the other breaking compatibility with older perfectly good equipment (oops no headphone jack! Just use this dongle or bluetooth! Oh sorry you dont own your music, listen to this ad!).

Big bulky sound systems have gained the image of outdated dinosaurs which is sad because the laws of physics dictate you can't get a quality sound without well built, large equipment. You can miniaturize a computer chip and retain the same functionality. You can't miniaturize a speaker cone or an amplifier circuit and retain the same functionality.

Of course an audiophile will sell you a $1000 cord that is functionally equivalent to a $4 cord so I kinda get why people don't bother.

tf = transformation
+/- signs = positive or negative modifiers, so "uspol +" would refer to a story about US politics that is actually good (for a change).
