I realize its mostly insider baseball but this nonsense with Represenative McCarthy perhaps not having the votes is funny in its own way. The guy spent years bending over backwards and having the spine of over cooked spaghetti and its clear that cowardice essentially just chummed the waters.
To be clear the Speaker of the House is an insanely powerful position.

The Speaker is third in line to the presidency, has requisition access to most secret documents, as well as their own duties. This is one of the most important federal positions.
Which is why when everything Dennis Hastert did came to light beyond the clear ethical and moral violations it everyone should have been upset.
