I dont understand this joke. It feels like such a rote joke that I have seen a billion times. I dont understand the humor of it. I am not sure I ever want to understand it.
I think its a comment of how there are so many options for coffee these days and thats a sign of a spoiled society and part of that old "return to simpler times" but... honestly I dont know?
Also why is it ALWAYS a woman at the cash register taking the order is that part of the joke?

Ordering a plain cup of coffee is OK; we can translate, but we’re seeking sarcastic retribution. Why? Because this boomer subjected us to a rant.
And we’re tired of boomers like him and our corporate overlords interfering in our lives. We don’t even want this job, but we need it to make rent on our apartment because we’ll never own a house thanks to boomers like him.
The unintentional joke here is: fuck with service people and you will be served. 😉

As a zoomer, we know this is a coffee shop with many names and sizes whose usage has obnoxiously been pushed upon us as sacrosanct by the company we both loath and depend upon for income.
In comes this shlubby “boomer” (more than likely a Gen-Xer, but they’re all boomers to us) in his cargo shorts and bucket hat from his ska days….
