“How to Temporarily Disable Face ID or Touch ID, and Require a Passcode to Unlock Your iPhone or iPad” https://daringfireball.net/2022/06/require_a_passcode_to_unlock_your_iphone
Hey I found an open source menstrual cycle tracking app called Drip that doesn't call home to anyone and encrypts your data on your device. It's gender inclusive and it has a prebuilt version Android that you can get either on F-Droid or on their site here: https://bloodyhealth.gitlab.io
They have an iOS version but it's not pre compiled. I'll be working on that today so you can get loaded onto your Apple devices, along with the instructions to install it on said Apple device.
Please boost so others can see this!
“And blood-black nothingness began to spin
A system of cells interlinked within
Cells interlinked within cells interlinked
Within one stem. And dreadfully distinct
Against the dark, a tall white fountain played.”
a reminder for no particular reason that suffregerts were far more radical then we are told at school

I am so heart sick over what’s going on with human rights in the USA. First bodily autonomy, now homosexuality is back on the table to becoming illegal again. This time, though, they don’t need to be “outed” by peers; your tinder or Grindr, profile bio or dm history is enough.
All the tools used to mass survey people that only affected “potential terrorists” can still be used to deny basic freedom of self expression.
You need to know that apps are not HIPPA compliant. Mental health ones included. Journals and mood trackers, too.
All app data is subject to being shared with law enforcement.
The silence of Silicon Valley over the role they know they will play in this shitshow is the worst of it. Because they know the only way to keep users safe is to delete their apps.
We have this narrative that universal basic income is gonna make people lazy and robot tax is going to increase the cost of living.
But the cost of living is already insane, and our “just be a programmer” line of avoiding having your job replaced self driving cars or machines is clearly not bulletproof.
If you can train ai to write code, you can train it law, etc.
Companies need to answer for how their cost cutting will impact employment, and pay for that impact.
Also, as a reminder with regards to the above regarding data privacy: row vs Wade was first and foremost about the right to privacy. Anything related to reproductive rights was only a result of the right of a woman, based on this result, to have her martial status private.
So, whatever your gender, political beliefs, sexuality, this will effect you.
If you these examples outrageous, what you need to fight for is data consent, data transparency, the right to data deletion and withdrawal of consent, and better laws on what companies can do with intellectual property, data or other information that’s been submitted by people.
People have had to fight biotech companies that have *patented their DNA*.

Regulating companies is what you need.
2. Did you know that Lakota elders are having to sue an entity called the Lakota Language Consortium for access to recordings and data they freely gave them ? https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/native-american-language-preservation-rcna31396
This entity posed as a cultural preservation charity but then charged them for access to their own culture, including recordings of their own relatives that were only given under the promise that this would be to help preserve their culture- not create a product they would be charged for later.
1. Do I need to mention Henrietta lacks? How her cancer cells were taken at hospital and then turned into the HeLa line of cells used for research that made thermo fisher scientific billions?
Let’s talk about GitHub copilot. It’s fair the complain that they were only able to build this tool based on analysis of user submitted code. But this is an argument for data transparency and better laws governing what entities and companies can do with user submitted data and information. Because until now, this is the least gross thing done with this business model. 👇🏽:
Just kidding. That building is like that all year around, but it went up lady pride month.
What the Internet teaches me is that there's an overwhelming amount of talented people that never find an audience for their incredible creativity.
Few people are famous and successful due to being "better" than everyone else.
People say, "The Internet is forever".
This is not true. So much on the Internet has disappeared. I would state further that more has disappeared from the Internet than currently what exists.
This is one reason I wish that a P2P content delivery system was the default: because not only would it deliver information faster, information would depend less on WHERE it is and more on WHAT it is -- thereby creating an avenue for redundancies.
