Their timeline is pretty funny to read :p
@typhlosion ooh good to know
Today's allotment of spoons have been spent. Time to go to sleep. Completely exhausted!
Remember, if you like what I do, and want to help me help others (as I now help out with @Support here on mastodon.social) you can support me on patreon. Even just $1 will go along way, and it wont be deducted until the first of May.
RFE: scheduled toots and boosts
boosts especially, because those who are likely to boost your toots to begin with have too much overlap with those who are likely to see the boost in the first place.
it just sucks to make a toot and then get 15 boosts in the first 5 minutes when the real way to get reach is by having your toot float around the timelines at different times of day
self promotion
this is bleak, a member and co-founder of a bay area photography worker co-op.
i capture light to show the world soulful places, people, ideas, moods, hopes, thoughts, and feelings.
silence is my canvas in making music, voices, sound effects, and audiobooks
important thoughts and observations come out of me sometimes, like today
i give all these things away freely, asking only for contributions from the most capable
and the fun thing about this is that like, when garg's patreon was $600/mo or so i didn't quite feel comfortable calling for everyone who worked on it to get paid-- i did it anyway. but now i feel more than comfortable putting that idea forth
death and poverty, masto politics
@OsirisSaline bless you. to be honest the thing i want most (as i just tooted to the PTL) is the people who contributed directly to the codebase get paid. i didn't contribute to the codebase, but i have done ancillary work such as this in letting people know what's going on, trying to make sure other folks are getting paid for their labor, and generally raising the level of awareness in how folks approach their spending, time, and effort. it's important work!
in the interests of transparency, i'm aware that me saying that garg being the only person to get paid for this might not be true in the future, or even now. nothing would make me happier than to be proven wrong, so i want to leave room for that. that is, imo, one of the most vital portions of my call to action. try to make sure the queer folks that are putting work into making the fediverse a good place to be are getting paid for that work.
death, poverty, mastopol cont.
a final point i'll make about critically engaging with how you distribute and exercise your resources is this parting thought: gargron isn't the only person who has put or is putting work into this website, but he is the only person getting money out of it. if you can boost his patreon, there's no reason you can't boost mine too.
bleak appreciates your listening. feel free to drop a coin in the jar / boost
death, poverty, mastopol cont.
but also also, don't get it double twisted. this IS about me and gargron. it's also simultaneously about all that other stuff. critically engaging with the financial world starts between you and me or someone like me. my fucking teeth are falling out and i'm getting evicted on Sunday and my welfare (i am chronically disabled) isn't nearly enough to cover either of these expenses (moving costs/deposits/moving truck etc.)
death, poverty, mastopol cont.
and like, don't get it twisted. this isn't about me or gargron or even patreon or the fediverse. this is a matter of people with means, platforms, and capability of exerting spare effort towards other goals, and the platforms they interact with, and the level of critical thought they apply to where they're allocating their resources. look at Drew Scanlon's patreon for a mild example. look at, others include hard right patreons sitting at $25k/month.
