pikmin

something i love about pikmin is that instead of outright villains, the antagonist are just two people who suck.

I love how they portray the character of Louie because he just sucks. i love that we never get a sense of what he's thinking.

He's so good in 3, especially. dude sees people for the first time after being stranded and he steals their whole food supply because he's a shitty guy. it's unclear if he's concerned for olimar but we know he's super not trying to be helpful. he blows

pikmin

he's so good, specifically in the format of a game. more games need a louie character. one designated guy that's nothing but a pain in the ass, no regrets or relishing, just some guy who sits around and is unhelpful

pikmin

anyway i played the demo, pikmin 4 feels good, i'm excited for it now!

i do hope they keep that surprising bit of harshness to the writing, i forgot how much i liked that. like how the captain in 3 secretly has a crush on subordinate that intensely and vocally dislikes him

re: pikmin

@heatherhorns I agree about the characters (Louie and the writing of interactions), and I'm glad the demo vibes with you more than you initially expected.

Pikmin 4 definitely seems to be going in some different directions from the originals, but I'm hoping it'll keep the Pikmin spirit enough in other ways. At the very least, it's not Hey Pikmin. :|
