@charlattan@mastodon.online that has been my experience most of the time on masto tbh, and i don't think it's uncommon. a lot of toxic stuff has gone down in the fediverse over the last 4 years, and it's left a lot of people burned out.

i kinda think things are getting a little better, but most of us are dealing with some kind of trauma. and it doesn't take much for this place to feel like an empty void.

Microsoft now owns, or will soon own, one of the best text-to-speech engines for blind power-users, through its acquisition of Nuance. But the code has been abandoned for years. It seems unlikely that this TTS engine is a valuable asset for Microsoft.
