Well, folks, my latest Wired column is live. It's about the urgent need for publicly visible displays of trans joy and resistance, and how popular social media platforms provide every incentive to suppress it in favour of terror, despair, and doom.

Having seen so many of my fellow trans people afraid that no one is noticing the far-right's attacks on trans rights, or that no one is speaking out or fighting back, I felt it was time to push back on the algorithmic doom.

- It is technically not possible to post the EICAR standard antivirus test file into a Mastodon database because "@ AP" will be detected as a mention and modified in the raw status to add HTML (EDIT: and be lowercased!). ( https://mastodon.social/@mcc/110203695862684424.json )

- Every time someone attempts to post the EICAR test file on Mastodon, a notification is sent to a gone user named "Andrew Pierno", who signed up in 2016 and made exactly one post before abandoning the account

With the announcement of Missouri effectively banning trans medical care for all residents beginning the 27th, it is ever more urgent that I get help in saving my house from foreclosure (and make much needed interior repairs to make it more livable).

House is barely in the southwest Illinois suburbs of St. Louis, and most trans people I know locally are in Missouri, including 2 of my 3 partners.

I absolutely must help some of them get out of the state.

Share this with whoever you can. Remind some cis that there is absolutely things they can do right now to help with the growing persecution.

Way back in 2021, I called out #Substack as a scam because it was masquerading as a service provider when it fact it was paying certain writers (often secretly) to create content for them.
