@ticky It was pretty common in PC motherboards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_clock has a bunch of examples.
@ticky This was ridiculously common in RTCs and NVRAMs of the 80s and 90s. The prevailing design was to just swap out the entire chip when the battery ran out. So ridiculous.
I'm actually really surprised that they're constructed in such a way that these mods are even possible!
I updated the search mechanism a bit to try to get better results, and also made it prioritize videos it hasn't posted already. Whee!

lo-fi blues beats to chug and outhit to
FYI, @lofibeats has a bunch of new genre terms, and also it'll try to find a YouTube video for each one of its ridiculous suggestions. The latter aspect is quite experimental and it's possible that it'll bring up things that aren't music. As always, please let me know if it posts something inappropriate!
re: TERFs
I mean they should be happy, obviously someone as mentally-ill as myself shouldn't be allowed to breed anyway, think of the children. 🙄
re: TERFs
If they had posted a comment or sent an email to me my response would be, "Don't want a nullification? Don't get one. I am absolutely not saying this is appropriate for everyone."
The "think of the children" angle of course comes from a really weird stretch of logic, namely:
1. I sought this out myself with 100% informed consent
2. While getting information about surgeons other than the one I went with, someone mentioned someone based in Oregon
3. Oregon has a statute that allows kids to seek out gender-confirming medical procedures (meaning puberty blockers and maybe hormones) at 15
4. Therefore (in their argument), my experimental/non-mainstream surgery is intended SPECIFICALLY FOR 15-year-olds
And of course in plenty of their discourse they talk about how much of a shame it is that doctors were willing to throw away perfectly-good genitalia and there was also a lot of implied "this person is mentally ill" talk, because obviously I did this thing that NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would do.
re: TERFs
Somehow this completely factual revelation came to them from the fact that I mentioned a surgeon based in Oregon.
It's ridiculous pretzel logic, of course.
I guess they didn't see (or care about) all of the places where I went to great pains to say that I got that surgery because it was what was right for me.
Anyway I've blocked/reported them on twitter and on wordpress.com, so, there's that.
TERFs
Today I found out that a couple years ago a couple of TERFs were trying to crusade against my GRS article (https://beesbuzz.biz/articles/5195-nullification-surgery) using the completely expected "think of the children!!!" angle, because apparently that article is all about how I'm forcing 15-year-olds to undergo an expensive, niche neutrois surgery procedure and not about how I was providing information for people who want to know their options in an informed consent manner.

@Austin_Dern honestly right now those all seem like torture
@hi_cial @heatherhorns there can be an access conflict when it comes to difficulties involved in captioning things though (cognitive, or the act of typing itself hurting like heck). Ideally Mastodon would make it easier for folks to help each other out instead of just shaming people for not doing all the things themselves.
@heatherhorns that episode had the amazing ‘love makes the world go round’ song
@wildcard9 by autoplay I mean automatically advancing to the next video on the recommendations, not automatically playing the video when you open the page (which I also hate, and which I disable at the browser level)
