I omitted the stuff about "look for the viewpoint over the pass, it's the main transit hub and a big tourist attraction," and "you can take a shortcut going up the hill if you go through the Arts District, but be careful if you do because it's easy to get lost there."
of course if you go all the way up the hills you get to Nob Heights, the top ridge that used to be where the rich people had their houses. most of it is a national park/historical site nowdays. beautiful place, there's a specialized kite flying area with several stores nearby, and the view is *spectacular* in both directions, over the city and back inland. downside, it's *extremely windy* up there.
@Jacel ooOOOoooooh, definitely let me know if you do, obviously I would be Very Interested! :D
there is a "BART" station in the Arts District, under a huge multi-level semi-legal indoor market (reminiscent of a cross between Pike Place Market and a parking garage), but I'm always very careful when using that one because that's the building that almost collapsed on me when an angel had a temper tantrum there.
