walking home from the store, I heard two "snap crackle THUD" sequences that were big trees falling over. also saw several branches fall, and a hailstorm of pinecones. be careful out there, Seattle-area folks, the wind can be dangerous!

@green ahh, i'm glad you didn't get squished by them D:

@hvee me too! I was pretty spooked, tbh--part of my walk home goes directly through a patch of untended forest. at least the trees falling over were far enough away that I didn't *see* them at all.

@green we've had a lot of treefall this season, too, since the climate has been pretty antagonizing to tree integrity :/ i love living in a city with a lot of big, old trees, but it certainly gets hazardous

@hvee yessss. there's a lot of trees that still have a lot of green foliage, because of the increasingly late warm weather. and other environmental stressors... it's alarming, and depressing. :|

@green we had a bunch of 100% green leafed trees drop all their leaves overnight because it hit 15F suddenly, but the trees weren't even ready to change color :< i've never seen that happen as much as it did this year, it definitely feels like a new thing going on :(
