Day of Trans Day of Visibility Day (Thoughts)
part of the problem is that there are BOTH degrees of transness AND degrees of closetedness, and so it can be difficult for one to feel that one is "far enough" along either of those sliders to "qualify." these are further complicated by matters of safety, needing-to-make-a-living-ness, and jumping through the many burning hoops of Medical Gatekeeping.

if people express anger about TDOV, it's probably anger that this world/society makes it unsafe for people to be the gender they feel. it's definitely what makes me angry! it's *not* anger at you for not feeling safe to speak up. I am angry at the boot that is crushing you, not at you for being crushed. it's okay. you don't have to be visible to us to be valid. you don't have to be 100% anything to be valid. <3

basically, if you're wondering if you qualify, YOU PROBABLY DO. if you didn't, you wouldn't *wonder*! if the idea of anybody being *certain* that the gender they were assigned at birth was the *correct* one kind of boggles your brain, you qualify! if you haven't told anybody but a few of your closest friends (or nobody at all) and you still don't feel safe/comfortable telling, you don't have to! it's still your day!
