I wrote a post about my first day volunteering at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library! It was a great experience! Though, be warned: during my volunteering, I learned about a tech company that has seriously pissed me off, and rant about it a bit towards the end of the post.

@hummingrain !!!! where are they? I'd be very interested in adding them to my volunteering schedule, if I can get to them... and additional grrrr gnash about the price-gouging technology. there's *gotta* be a way to help out there, though I am not anywhere near technically adept enough to help. :/

@green They're on 9th ave, right up near where westlake and denny intersect!

@hummingrain oooh... hmmm. could they use another pair of unskilled volunteer hands? XD and if so, how do I sign up?

@green I think they definitely can! They can use people to read audiobooks, people to ship books, and people to help with library services! I imagine the shipping is the least skill-dependent. Their main volunteer page is here, it looks like, and there's an application linked from there: wtbbl.org/volunteer.aspx

@green Quite welcome! Maybe I'll see you around sometime. :D
