Distributed tech collective

The best legal structure I can game with for a distributed tech thing is a fund that hands out grants to members.

So we would give grants for people working on tech projects to cover things like medical and living expenses and then the organisation would look for and apply to things like development grants and contracts.

The idea is to have something where we can support members but international employment contracts cause trouble.
The idea needs more work.

I think perhaps the hardest part of this is going to be finding the initial sources of funding.

I suspect that many of the people who would be interested in something like this aren't in very stable financial situations.
I think that asking for volunteers to help set everything up and to act as the first members is the only way to go, but there has to be very explicit rules in place so everyone understands the expectations, this isn't going to be any good if we have to exploit people to make it work.
