Anyone out there knowledgeable about car transmissions?

My 2015 Toyota Corolla LE is supposed to have a CVT in it, but it feels/shifts like a standard automatic and everything I've read/heard about CVTs say it shouldn't. Should I be worried about it?

@nallwolf Hiya! Gearhead here.

A lot of manufacturers design CVT cars to shift similarly to automatic transmission vehicles because people expect familiar experiences from their cars.

So your CVT is pretending to be an automatic transmission, effectively. You lose some efficiency for the sake of familiarity and thus better sales.

Personally, I blame capitalism. :3
