I'm -not- competitive, in fact I'm quite the opposite. A lot of things I did when I was a kid (sports, band) I quit as soon as it became a competition. I've never understood it and it has never made me feel particularly great. Yeah, I lose a -lot-, but I've also been really GOOD at things (TF2) and still hate the competition. It was so so much of my life… so many hours to become good at a game just to start having -fun-. It's exhausting to me anymore. I have no time for that.

Which like, I know a lot of competitive folks, especially with Smash Ultimate out, and like… I don't hate that. I have fun with Smash, especially with handicaps. Generally speaking my competitive friends are aware that I'm really bad and want me to have fun, which is a consideration I'm admittedly not used to.
The last Smash game I played, I was introduced to by someone who promptly layed me out without me able to land a single blow. It was insultingly egotistical x.x

@Oneironott Honestly, to fork off this, handicap is my favourite way to play with folks. It's such a great balancing tool, and I wish more games had it.

@Oneironott @minimink oh my gosh i totally agree with this; the dynamic handicap in smash 5 is really really really great and it definitely makes the game more fun for me too as the person who tends to be skilled way above most folks who pick it up every once in a while; it's really fun being forced to alter my play style!! i just hope it's as fun for folks who aren't as Nerdy About Smash as me too :>
