Played some Mahjong last night with @minimink and I kiiiiinda get it.
Though I didn't fully realize at the time that I needed to make specific hands and not just have a hand with all sets and runs and tried to go out on a hand that...had no valid win condition.
So it was the equivalent of me playing Poker and being like "READ EM AND WEEP FUCKERS!" and my hand is like a 2, a 4, a 7, a queen and my drivers license somehow. XD
In all seriousness though its a really interesting game once you wrap your head around it. Being able to yoink tiles from someones discard is a fun mechanic that keeps you pretty engaged even on other peoples turns.
Also since they are tiles it means the board state is very easy to read since you can see every tile in every players discard, meaning its much easier to make good calls on what to ditch and what to keep.

There's no worry about time limits, and you can't make illegal plays. Plus you can change the tile sets to have translations on the specific tiles!
