I welcome all my friends to this place it's a lot less stressful.

Unless someone is telling you how you should post.

@ohmyrichard did something new happen with the birdsite?

werewolf eye contact

I made a mistake by not buying one of these v.v

@fuzzwolf I keep wanting to call toots boosts, and say "reboosted" for retweets.

If you're on iOS, I HIGHLY recommend the Toot! app.

You have to pay for it, but it is so worth it. It has cute animations, a little wheel at the bottom of the screen that let's you swap accounts quickly, and just a bunch of other neat stuff.

@joabaldwin @AdalwinAmillion it depends of they want to be the centaur of attention, I guess.

birdsite

@tilton yeah, same. It's why I didn't delete my account outright and just purged all my tweets instead. I have hope he'll crash, burn, and some other company will pick it up to unfuck everything he's done.

11.18 big dick day

@tilton it's a thing from japan mainly. 1 means big dicks, and 8 means chubby. From what I understand.

11.18 big dick day

Oh no... it's 11.18, the day when my powers of nubbin'ness are at their weakest. D:

grumpy vent post

I feel like "callout post" would be a more useful content warning then a lot I've seen. They were always the things I hated most about twitter.

Mastodon tech musings

Mastodon is like email. But not because of the inbox/outbox concept, which some people focus on! It's like the early days of email when anyone could spin up their own email server on their own domain or hop on a friend's server. (HT lycanthrope.net!)

You could exchange messages with any other email server out there, but you also had to deal with the spam: blacklists, whitelists, and the sheer volume as spam levels grew exponentially.

Gmail rose to dominate because it figured out email well in a couple crucial areas: it's really good at managing spam for you, and it had some UI/UX concepts that were a great improvement over the basics (like threading messages while hiding inline reply text).

It'll be interesting to see how Mastodon evolves to handle the similar challenges that will undoubtedly arise as its popularity and usage increases.
