At long last, I was able to upload my personal avatar to VRChat last night! I only played around with it for a moment since it was already very late when I finished it up (stayed up editing it and watching the NASA launch, so no time was really wasted haha), but it felt incredibly fulfilling to literally embody my fursona in the virtual world.

Looking at my own paws, seeing a big ol snout on my face in the mirror, it felt like I had scratched an itch that had been there forever!

I'm finding that I boost a lot more posts here, especially art, because I want people to find new people to follow.

We are the algorithm.

With the update to v4.0 and some changes to layout and display, I kinda wanna commission some custom art for the instance!

I'm open to anyone on the fediverse who is interested in a paid commission for an icon and splash image for tech.lgbt, but my preference would be a local instance community member first

CWs aren't some sort of Badge of Shame among the Mastodon instances. They're a part of the local culture. We use them to be good neighbors, to make godawful puns, to give each other little surprises.

That's in large part because Mastodon was built up by a pile of tired, disabled, traumatized, queer folk, and we built a space where we could engage with the world around us more easily. And then we used the same tools to be goofballs. Because that is how a human do.

the "verify the link in your metadata" thing mastodon does, is nice and all

but it's really bad that every single instance you're federated with also sends that same request to your website after you "change" some metadata in your profile
