$ - (though E:D tends to have a bit more combat depth than NMS, NMS actually has a surprising amount of story and lore and also has a broader range of things to do sometimes).
$ - I'll start.
1. Toss-up between Elite: Dangerous and No Man's Sky
they both have practically infinite procgen universes of course but that doesn't equate to content. The way they're implemented, however, absolutely does. Both have so many pretty star systems, fun combat encounters, legitimately interesting and engaging randomized events, and a surprising amount of depth to their mechanics (thread)
$ - today we asked some friends about what three games they think they could play for the rest of their lives (assuming that servers stay up, and games that are updated often still are updated frequently for the duration of their lives). we'd like to ask this question here as well: what games do you think have enough content, replay value and general fun that you think you could replay them for the rest of your life?
please reply with your answer, and an explanation if you feel like writing one.
Swearing, in case that needs to be CW'ed
$ - I have no further elaboration and cannot explain why these words entered my thoughts
Swearing, in case that needs to be CW'ed
$ - this post is a result of being awake at 3:56 AM after spending hours watching Scott the Woz, categorizing BattleTech media into neat little folders and playing Bit.Trip
this happened last night. fortunately it's not much more than an annoyance since the buyback is only 22,000 credits for this ship, but it definitely soured that session
check chat. turns out the player supposedly wasn't intending to kill and was confused why the ship blew up at 30% hull (idk why either) the first time but the second time was intentional because we fired back. we log off frustrated to wait for them to leave
Elite: Dangerous story! (thread)
we've just arrived at Felicity Farseer's station, and find out that we need to bring her some metal alloys. no problem. exit hangar, take off... get fired upon.
turn around and try to kill the other player and they pop the hull in a few seconds from I don't even know what weapon.
annoying, but workable. lots of credits to spare for buying back the ship and attempting takeoff again.
...get killed again by the same player.
