@Xkeeper do you remember what the area ID was for the shader playground? it might actually be possible to enter with the right template ID
@shaderphantom I think the area id was something dumb like 7. I remember there were two numbers; an area id for the general location, and then something like a seed number for the auto-generated stuff? i know there were a few obviously-designed test maps that had low template numbers
@Xkeeper yup. following the random seed is an integer which is the template ID that corrosponds to a .lat inside the ICE files (or -1 for random landform), and a width and height for random landform. if I give the game a valid template it should load
@shaderphantom yeah, all i remember about the test room was that it had a low area but -- oh you found it.

@Xkeeper yeah i found a forest 2 template that literally just broke off while trying to enter the rockbear battle arena
teleporting to shader playground with the server is using the correct lighting profile for the area, rather than Shadowth's video using lobby lighting for the file replacement
@shaderphantom i assume that video is way old and didn't actually get it to load properly -- maybe before they had the ability to load and were just intercepting the map loads clientside? idk
i remember it worked fine when i checked it. the date on these is 8/8/2015
@shaderphantom exploring these was always surreal because it just felt like, wrong, somehow. the grid-like forest maps creeped me out when i first ran into them
@shaderphantom there's something just weird and surreal about going through places that were never meant to be seen, that clearly should have something in them and are yet completely empty
i wish i had gotten to find more things, if there were any
@Xkeeper the tokyo area chipset doesn't actually support random terrain so it gets holes in the world in places, it's pretty awesome
@shaderphantom I think all of the exploration I did was pre-Tokyo, so that sounds... interesting
a lot of these weren't random, I think? or at least didn't seem to be
@Xkeeper nope, they weren't. vegas area totally breaks if you try to use random landform on it, it only supports templates. the landform generated for each area is only slightly different and it appears to be based on another set of files I'm looking at.

but yeah, wonder if there are any other debug templates for the new area, like the weird grid shit. probably not; seemed like only the forest and ice area (?) really had that sort of thing
@Xkeeper lmao you saying this made me get completely sidetracked and spend the last 30 minutes trying to get into the other 0000-0099 areas, forgetting what I was supposed to be testing
