the reason "tech" companies are hiring new developers in droves is to reduce wages and subjugate a once professional position into mediocrity so that nobody questions what they're working on at the risk of losing their jobs

software developers _must_ unionize.

if we do not, the capitalist ruling class will force us to suck the world dry with our code exclusively for their benefit.

i am genuinely terrified at the scale at which the tech industry has the capability to absolutely fuck the entire world for profit

today i had my first real thought of forming a union and the implications that has for this city alone.

it brings me incredible sadness to know how hard it would be to convince grunt workers in this industry that a union is a good idea.

why would any software dev care? they're getting paid better* than most industries right now. there's plenty of jobs.

*pay in this industry has absolutely FUCKING nothing to do with your merit and almost entirely with how much ass you kiss

not to mention how the _fuck_ are you supposed to unionize a company with 2000, 4000, 10000?? employees?? in multiple regions???

maybe this is another reason tech companies are hiring so many fucking grunts. it makes union organizing that much harder.

@shaderphantom Of note: old unions in, say, coal towns, led to far better pay for their workers. Like, immensely so. Ridiculously so, in some cases. 50-80k in modern currency? They'd laugh at it.

@shaderphantom I’m starting small: going to create a software co-op, then once that’s doing well, look into creating a union

@shaderphantom in places where fear & paranoia are born, vigillance is an effective replacement
