so, as I understand it Trump is supposed to be giving or has already given some sort of authorization to Turkey to invade the anarcho-communist autonomous region of Rojava in northern Syria.
What does that entail, and what, pray tell, does Turkey intend to do? I feel like I've only seen anything about this coming out of anarchist spaces and there's little to no coverage elsewhere.

@Zero_Democracy I have not kept up with anything about Syria in years. Rojava is represented largely by Kurds who were supporting the US in the fight against ISIS, isn't that correct?
Why would the US want to authorize what is essentially ethnocide of their own allies?

@shaderphantom Because we, as an imperial power, have been using Kurds as military pawns. The Turkish defense minister basically told Mattis that they would enact a pogrom when they US withdraws. Our government doesn't care about these people. We did the same thing during the first Gulf War. Told the Kurds rise against Saddam and left them to be massacred after.

@shaderphantom It's pretty crushing. The alternative from our "opposition party" was to just keep bombing Syrians forever to keep the option of proxy war with Russia and/or Iran open. This was always going to end in someone being massacred.

@shaderphantom It was his excuse for getting out while maintaining some of his prestige, anyway. None of these ghouls actually care about collateral damage beyond the optics.
