@multiple_creatures I think this is an issue only for access points to federation that act like social networks. There's not a lot of precedent for it yet, but there are legitimate use cases for publishing actors to act more like RSS feed sources, e.g. an artist no longer has to be beholden to a Mastodon instance and can instead self host their own art blog accessible from any other access point, federating their own website instead.

@multiple_creatures this is an important feature of apub's technical design for freedom on the network, and I think makes it stand out from Twitter et al. So it's important to make the distinction for the particular problem being addressed.
