#AGDQ2020 so who all is gonna be there
in 1st grade, my idea of programming was to slam out as much keysmash into notepad as humanly possible, and save it as a .exe file. one time, i did this on the classroom winnt pc.
to my utter shock, this actually worked, and produced a program that opened a command prompt that placed the entry caret at random positions on the screen and started printing blank pages from the computer.
Theory: Older people aren't worse at discovering or using new technology. UIs are just worse at conveying function/intent
Some evidence:

"Beginning users and many intermediates relied almost exclusively on visible cues for finding commands. They relied on (and found intuitive) menu bars and tool bars, but did not use pop-up (or “context”) menus, even after training."
"All but the most advanced users did not understand how to manage overlapping windows efficiently."
has poor taste in video games
