Wondering if I can convince any colleagues at my institution with some familiarity in FOSS projects to walk me through what it would mean to host a mastodon server and learn all that jazz. I don't even know what the right terms are, but I have some time this summer and enthusiasm? It will be this or improving my yarn spinning.

i came from mastodon.social, don't want to gatecrash anyone's thing, but really happy to share - looking to learn about OS (i'm writer and film maker but had a break, come back, it's all changed). Not sure what else to say, look forward to being here
