Look, we could riot in the streets, which would harm lots of us and might not do anything. We could do what we're doing now, legally permitted action and trying to just LIVE, and it'd up our temporary physical and emotional survival but have long term costs.

trump is a symptom, not an anomaly. the US has a long and continuing history of slavery and genocide that it has never seriously confronted. it underpins our governing institutions, who love their power but hate thinking about how they got it. they have never put in the work to evict fascism. rather they have fostered it when useful and downplayed it when embarrassing. faced with their legacy in broad daylight, even the elected opposition cannot bring itself to oppose fascism.

Tech Babbling - X60s unbricking post-mortem
Now, I've looked into the possible causes, and I think I've found a trap for new users.
Under the "Console" section of the configuration menu, there is an option called "Use onboard VGA as primary video device". Make sure you tick it. If you don't, it could cause a semi-brick, so be careful!
This is who I'm talking about. I blame someone I met on FurryMUCK for that! :P

Yes! Working first time! Still a little rough around the edges, but it boots!

Tech Babbling - Coreboot X200
Well, I managed to unbrick someone's X60s, which was a pain that it needed full disassembly. On the plus side of that, I reinstalled a switch cover, so turning off radios on the laptop won't be a chore.
Now, I'm going to try to install git coreboot on my X200. It's not as bad, since the BIOS chip is easier to get to..100 times easier. So if I brick it, it's not too bad.
Well, I managed to unbrick someone's laptop. Turns out they installed a broken BIOS image.

The pro of all of these new instances popping up is that you can build your own communities where you feel safe with people you trust.
The con is that there is less quality control. People of color, women, trans folks, and folks with disabilities and illnesses are constantly harassed when we post on public, a lot of (newer) instances don't have codes of conducts, and we don't have all damn day to keep blocking instances (bc there are so many).
