I've flown an airplane (Cessna 150) that was almost 50 years old. Aircraft have rigorous enough maintenance schedules that they can last basically forever. If you want you can slap in some more modern electronics but even that's not really required.

I enjoy fictional universes where spacecraft are in service for hundreds of years, because hey they're big and expensive and why build a new one when you can just maintain an old one.

It's still weird to me sometimes that "change my gender" is a thing that I did.

Today's pretty word of the day is "alluvium".

G'night :)

Boost this toot if you've ever been wage theft-ed.

(I have by two separate companies choosing to not clock overtime correctly.)

This is what happens when you put the trans flag rotated 90º on top of the pride flag with difference blending.

It's like the queerest plaid. :D

corporations at Pride

The first Pride event I went to was when I was visiting DC in 2011, pretty much right after deciding to transition.

The queerest thing I saw there was the HRC asking me for money. It was really, really alienating and disheartening.

Fuck corporate Pride.

At work I listened to the Hierarchy of Angels episode of Spirits, a podcast about myths from around the world. It was really refreshing to hear one of the hosts preface some Christian theology with "depending on the story," the exact same way they do for 3/4 of the other myths discussed on the show.

Also if you haven't seen some of the classical descriptions of angels, they're off the fuckin' chain. My favorite is the wheels within wheels covered in hundreds of eyes.

Huh. I thought "balls to the wall" came from elevator speed governors, but according to some top search results it's from aircraft throttle knobs?

In any case it's a phrase I increasingly enjoy.

Imperial RADch *does a sick kickflip off Anaander Mianaai*

Anyway I started reading Leviathan Wakes, and having watched like a season and a half of The Expanse it's almost disconcerting to realize how tone-perfect of an adaptation the show is.

Got a picture inspired by Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean (Explosions in the Sky) and Dear Esther, a perfectly safe (but terribly lonely) undersea fortress. (Artist: Jonathan Vair/Stigmata)

"Human" is a word whose meaning becomes unusually context-driven in furry circles :)
