How do y'all feel about the film Starship Troopers?
My opinion: fun action movie made hilarious by trying and failing to be satire. It doesn't understand either fascism or satire enough to pull it off :)

Do I need to grow a thicker skin than the one I got by spending my twenties in submarines and oil refineries, or does it make sense that hearing "No, you're wrong, you're a man and you'll always be a man" from yet another authority figure, on a day when my brain is screaming the same thing especially loudly, might temporarily wreck my ability to focus on anything other than staying alive?
Somewhere along the line I managed to develop a really specific sense of my own clothing style and that's kind of cool but also it's narrow enough that I often don't actually know how to find clothing that I like, short of shotgunning thrift stores and print-on-demand websites.
There's a shitload of cool stuff on LiveHeroes but it's expensive enough that waiting for a sale is a v. good idea.
I also know there's a website that sells awesome printed leggings but can't remember what it was called? @memnus@octodon.social ?

Well that sure does explain some shit. The series sarts getting good around book 5-6 as it begins developing beyond the formula.
