I've got a VPN set up on both computers and my phone now because I'm in a Comcast monopoly area and screw them. Not too confident T-Mobile has the best intentions regarding my mobile traffic either. But if I'm gonna start rousing some rabble I need to secure myself.

Went outside last night thinking I'd get something out of the car. The yard was just a lit patch in a sea of darkness. Out among the trees, something crunched through dead leaves and branches. I noped right back into the house.

Living in the woods is fun. :D

Also The Day After Tomorrow is on and I don't even care, I watch that and 2012 every time I see them on the TV schedule.

My poor kitty learned about rain today. Fortunately he found shelter and his mama came out with an umbrella and rescued him.

This comic edit is fantastic. :D

Original comic source: cupcakelogic.tumblr.com/post/1

I wasn't able to track down the source of the edit, though it was brought to my attention by @adeptomega !

My phone decided to just randomly brick for a few hours and I went to so many sketchy web sites and downloaded so many sketchy files while trying to fix it I'm just gonna straight-up reinstall Windows on my laptop.

Related to the move, though: I'm kind of into the idea of setting up a chicken coop and raising some chickens. I rattled off potential livestock-ish projects to my mother and she seemed genuinely encouraging. I was like, "A goat? :o" and she was like, "You'd just have to be careful about the local predators."

Mental Illness

As I've been packing up to move, I've been forced to take on a lot of cleaning projects around my apartment that seemed insurmountable for years. And... they were surmountable. And I've worked to assure myself that it wasn't laziness or weakness that made me avoid them for so long, it was depression. I'm doing it now, and that's strength.

I picked up Shadow of Mordor on the Steam Summer Sale because it was $4 and it's totally the LotR fanfic I would write if I knew no one was watching.

Retweeted @blackvoices@twitter.com:

Remembering trailblazing sci-fi writer Octavia Butler on her 70th birthday today.

@Firstaide As someone trying to build a career writing fiction, believe me, every time I see something that could have been improved if someone had just been willing to pay a decent writer, I cry inside. Sometimes outside.

@Firstaide And a lot of that is probably that game studios place less importance on their story writers and worldbuilders than their game designers and programmers.

@Firstaide I feel like the problem with game worldbuilding vs, say, novel worldbuilding is that you get away with a lot of shorthand in games. Like how The Witcher is a fine setting for games but really not up to the standard of novels, despite originally being novels.

@Dorbulyu Yeah, and it has two phases: Summer and Winter. They do pretty much what you'd expect.
