@Kyresti the only reason i figured id call it controversial was that ive occasionally seen lefty-intended memes that came off as just cruel to veterans (e.g. jokes that boil down to "haha i banged your spouse while you were deployed") and it always makes my stomach churn a bit

in the usa, either today is veterans day or im about to get in huge trouble for skipping a day of work

remember that not everyone in the military joined because rah rah patriotism. a lot of them are there because it was their best or only option for a good education or a well-paying job. a lot of them get trauma from their service and struggle to get the help they need once they're out

so... hate the war, hate the military, don't necessarily hate the soldier imo
