with unity on the downswing, now is the perfect time to make a tutorial about making games for the nes

@Cosmix i like it, it makes it look like a still from a pc98 visual novel

Airbus open sourced their new cockpit font. Make it the default for all your embedded projects, because it's REALLY good and has real testing in difficult environments!

@gutmunchies i have a whole little habit of writing programs in python but specifically in such a way that the entire program is a single python expression. it's fun and a surprisingly capable subset of the language but every time i show people the code for these programs i get really funny replies

@gutmunchies writing perverse code for fun is a very good pastime that i dont understand why more people dont do

Pixel version of Fala, possibly for use in a visual-novel-esque game (although leaning much more heavily in the Professor Layton/3 in Three direction). Fala isn't the one solving puzzles in the game, but something here definitely has her stumped.

#bitkin #pixelart #fala

@ktemkin We shipped StarTopia in EFIGS, which was absolute murder because ti's full of stupid puns.

Almost immediately we got requests for a different language setting for the voice vs the subtitles. People really wanted the voiceover to be in English, but the subs to be in their native language to explain the jokes they missed. Very easy to fix in a patch, a great idea, but it's not something we thought of ahead of time!

it’d be amazing if games had the ability to e.g. toggle text-box languages at the push of a button, or while a button is held down

it would be _so good_ for the kind of immersion learning where you play a game in a language you want to improve in; you could just hold a trigger button for a second to demystify a piece of vernacular or learn a new piece of vocab

Of all those amazing writers still out on strike #StarTrek geeks are definitely my favorite. 🖖

I’m reading “I Am a Cat” by Natsume Soseki, which was written in the early 1900s. There are references to stops on the Yamanote line and the tram throughout the book.

Looking it up, they’ve added stops since then, which is pretty much the opposite of North America, where train-based transit has mostly been demolished.

a character i designed and drew really quickly for an rp, but i really like how it turned out
