@sjolsen a kata is a concept from martial arts, especially karate. it's a choreographed series of moves used to teach precision of movement and intended to be practiced alone. ive seen "code kata" used to describe programming exercises, because the software industry has a problem with orientalism, i guess. as for the rest of the questions i can't help you there

My "thinking spot" in my mind's eye is a muddy pond with koi. The koi often represent things I'm struggling with, from puzzles to emotions.
My pond reminds me of the creek that used to go past a relative's house, back when I was a kid. I remember looking for crayfish and rescuing caterpillars that had fallen in.
Anyway, here's a doodle of a lil elfybean considering a large, kinda scary koi.
