Unicode gripe: I wish there was a matching cross version of ✅ which had a red background. I know there's ❌ and ❎, but the first is a different style and the second is hard to visually distinguish at a glance.

Unfortunately due to dental needs for my husband, as well as taxes coming up, we are going to be in quite a bit of debt. Thanks to my husband's hard work, we have some money coming in, but we keep going further into debt because of things we can't control.

dear literally anyone who is doing journalism right now,

if you use an ai generated image as the centerpiece for your article i will:

• probably not fucking read it
• forever write off your work
• complain to my friends (your potential future audience)

there are also thousands of images you can use for free that aren't being fed through a plagiarism engine. i should know, i've used these myself for my old articles on medium.

use (freee!!!!) royalty free work, pay an artist, or just don't include an image at all. full stop. stop clowning around.

After getting into a fight on Bluesky after someone told a poster to "go back to Mastodon," and explaining how Mastodon works, I now have several people who want me to teach them how to use Mastodon.

I feel like there's more features than I know about, so I'm asking for help. What's your favorite feature on Mastodon? How do you use it? Any thoughts are great, you don't have to go in-depth if you don't want to do so.
