Which is to say, while billionaire celebs may rule the spotlight, in actuality we are facing not miserly *individuals* but a *system* of miserliness, and only a systemic Boxing Day (i.e., UBI) will hold the servant class' justified discontent at bay.

...but, with the rise of modern depersonalized forms of servitude and the consequent decline in empathy and/or fear, Boxing Day is now the day when megacorp retailers disgorge their surplus post-holiday inventory for the price point that it should be year-round.

"Boxing Day" used to be the day that the wealthy gave handouts to their servants (recognizing, perhaps, that it was in their best interests to placate the majority of unwealthy people upon whose continual exploitation their lifestyle depended)...
