spoilers for a secret in celeste
when celeste first came out i was in the discord where people had figured out
- there were 199 strawberries in the game
- there was a mechanic where you could go into madeline's journal and rearrange the crystal hearts you had earned. each one had a name and by swapping their orders you could write poems
so people figured there must be some kind of secret with the poem and tried to do things like summarize the game's plot or whatever, but it was slow going because even if you did get the right poem, no one knew if you'd have to do something else to actually activate the 200th strawberry
finally, one day, someone came into the chat and said "everyone! i found the hidden strawberry!"
"wait, really? what did you do?"
"i beat chapter 1a without dashing"
A long time ago I heard about a concept I called the "Multiplicity of Weirdness"
Basically, the weirder you get, /the weirder you get/
Because as you get more weird you get more accepting of others weirds, which helps you discover more of your own, which helps you to be more accepting....
Anyway a couple of searches aren't actually finding anything and I had assumed it was a more widespread concept than it seems to be. Anyone know of any write-ups on the topic / phrase?
school, us context, abuse, personal, ableism, nicotine and caffeine mentioned, long
school was so fucked up
it felt like someone actively planned it to be as abusive and humiliating as possible. all i got from school was injured daily
i was never allowed to say something was too much, or given actual choice in studying what i wanted to study. i have forced to do classes that my brain was physically incapable of processing, and was told "i know you can do it" when there was something i couldn't do. i wasn't given help beyond the riddles told by the teachers, instead of just having the material explained
i had classes that were a quick summary of the material, and was given then a pile of worksheets and tests and papers i didn't understand. i was constantly told that "you need to get good grades, or you won't do well in life," and was therefore burdened with the stress of thinking 'bad grades = inching closer to failing life before i'm even 18'
i was forced to do "physical education," when my body was (and is) always fucked up. i had to rush to classes, because there were teachers who would mark you absent for not being in your seat as the bell rang. i had to worry about only being allowed to use the bathroom 3 times a month, in multiple classes
i couldn't talk to anyone about my abuse at home, because then cps would get called to do nothing but inform my abusers that i spoke out
the most important thing i learned in school was that authority is never to be trusted, despite what they wanted to ingrain
nicotine, coffee, and finding queer friends were the only reasons i was able to get through the end of high school
i'm anti-school. kids, and everyone, should have the opportunity to learn and explore, and not to have their dignity and autonomy stripped, and school is opposed to that, so i'm opposed to school. this shit can't be reformed
