Unfortunately due to dental needs for my husband, as well as taxes coming up, we are going to be in quite a bit of debt. Thanks to my husband's hard work, we have some money coming in, but we keep going further into debt because of things we can't control.

A while ago @stevelord shared a galaxy brain meme with me that triggered the thought that essentially the LLM boom is the deus ex machina for decoupling economic growth from innovation. It presents the simulacrum of value and innovation, enabling speculators to pump money into it and inflate value.

That it continues to consume ridiculous amounts of resource makes it *look* like it's resource in, value out, and is thus something that the market thinks it understands and is in some way sustainable.

I dunno, I feel that dissonance when I talk about it that helps me know I need to develop my terminology and narrative in the space, but the tl;dr here is that the interaction between the promise of what LLMs can deliver is just the right kind of specious to be synergistic with what market speculators think they want. It's fuel for a further decoupling of the market from actual humanistic reality.

I've said for a while that the market is just the next persona of "God" and this just seems like the next rung up the ladder, another enabler for us to live our lives under the hegemony of the worshippers of some great ouroboros that's completely divorced from any human need that is, in fact (not that) slowly killing us.

It sounds dramatic but realistically the thing I like about occultism is it gives convenient terminology and symbolism to talk about things that our outside of our day-to-day individualised paradigms because they are by their very nature the product of group psychology, identity and belief. Like a market.
