The days of talking about This Place as "a community" are far behind us (and were mostly inaccurate throughout tbh).

A community of millions is really tens of thousands of colocated communities that are often competing for the same limited resources.

Not treating the 'verse as a big homogeneous monolithic thing will be, in my opinion, the real key to the long-term viability of this model for most people.
