I've just been reading this free book on codes of conduct and how to enforce them, and it's really excellent - clear, specific advice backed with references and examples. Focus is mainly on conferences and conventions but there's useful stuff in there for other kinds of community management:

thought: nearly every mario game involves bowser kidnapping a beautiful woman, resulting in a (presumably politically charged) conflict in which mario (sometimes alongside an ensemble cast of other warriors) infiltrates bowser's turf to get her back
proposal: you could make a case for almost any mario game being the Super Mario Iliad
