@mawr Super cute!
Today in the life of storm dragoness... simple things that I have done many times and wrote runbooks and docs for are not working... and it is making these two emergency installs take way too long and there is no way I will finish them before I go on pto for my birthday... Also... being oncall and constantly harassed by pager duty is not helping either.
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr Aww.. that would have made it even more amusing... but damn. Some our IT owned hardware some similar stuff on it... Ops owned hardware does not..
Just a quick dump of the last year of Slog messages.

@mawr wow... I like that they did not even bother to update $company_name.
@IrisKalmia That sucks... I'm also the only (and senior) DCO and NOC person around after 3pm PST... which is half way through my shift.
@IrisKalmia yeah... it's also difficult to do my regular duties with RANDOM INTERRUPTION PHONE NOISES SCREECHHISSS
@mawr It was really fucking good... just... Mommy Backup Test.... ffffuuuuh
@mawr I finally got around to watching Chappie... holy fuck.
Did I miss it? Oh..hmm Not sure this is terribly important! Currently low on sleep storm dragony thing. Transplanted from the right coast to the left one.
Strange facts: I read between 900-1200 pages of stuff a week... for fun I think. I wish I joking but I recently checked my kindle. In between that I pretend to be Ops Person and wing my way through it. Oh and somewhere there are games on a screen.. and tabletop stuff.
Also forking is cool. Would you like to know more?
@IrisKalmia 10 days of... with a 1 day and 2 day intermission.. worst part is the shit that ruined my sleep for today was a false alarm.
And it turns out it was a false alarm because someone forgot to disable alerts on a system they were working on....
@mawr hmtl5, uh... ad-pocalypse, sites resorting to cryptomining injections..
Oh yes it so very dead. Time for a new vm image and mounting the old one's data partition... then hope and prayers... followed by coworker apologizing to any engineers that lost data.
Meanwhile... I get to be the bad backup cop and say "THIS IS WHY WE HAVE DATA BACKUP PROCEDURES! PLEASE FOLLOW THEM!"
Shape and form may vary but the pattern of information remains consistent across most known platforms and vessels. Accounting for unknown hosts remains irksome.
