usa trip retrospective
tonight in Things That Are Kind of Obvious Why Didn't I Realize This Sooner:
i think language is one of the main reasons i wanna go back to the us but don't really wanna go back to europe
cause like, i do/did speak/understand the language at almost every country i lived in/visited in europe, but i wasn't anywhere close to native speaker level in most of them
and yet english, and specifically american english, became, due to a scarcely believable chain of events during childhood, sort of a co-native language of mine

i actually had this joke idea to speak hebrew with a really exaggerated american accent when i got back from my us trip and insist obliviously for comedic effect that i sound the same as i ever did but,,,, uh,,, seems like that didn't happen 🙃

its so cool that even though i cant speak, i can still do language! i can still read and write and listen and sign and... uh,, the signing equivalent of listening -- so many different types of language!!!
