re: programming meta, vague

my decision in late 2021 to use python for this project isn't even the worst part of it because it uses 2-3 different types of israeli public transit data which is always shit data in shit formats with shit errors

programming meta, vague

i should have named this entire project aaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaAAAaaaaAaAAAAaaAaAa

i want to never have to use python again in my life, which is a nice thought when i'm working on a project with ~2000 lines of python

maintaining a unix environment over months is too difficult and every once in a while everything breaks horribly and i can never get out of the mess

so instead of painstakingly propping the trainwreck up on toothpicks with glitter glue whenever it crashes -- how about it's all in a vm and i just scrap it and install a fresh copy

my ideal coding os is a linux distro that just boots straight into virtualbox

@anarchiv danish, drunkenly, from the corner of the room: "hæj nooorge jeg ska' gå tiss' kan du pas' på mine konsonææænderrr *hik* jeg loooover at taaaaa' dem tilbaaaaa' seneeeereeeee *hik*"

@else not a lot of people in central israel have lawns, but some election seasons do see signs hanging under living room windows and balconies

(except right now we're seeing the... fourth election in three years, i think? so there's barely any signs, except for posters in public spaces; guess we got sick of it by now)

but having lots of signs per lawn sounds like an american thing because you vote for like 500 things on the same ballot, whereas here you just vote for one party and that's it

@anarchiv exactly! my parents never agreed to go visit any of our neighbors' sukkot though (even though it's literally a holiday tradition), and now as an adult i live in a more urban place where no one sets a sukka up anyway

@anarchiv (my family doesn't actually do any of that though because we're post apocalyptic or something idk)

@anarchiv yeah, the one where you build a small desert hut in your parking space out of mass produced parts to eat all your meals in and sleep in, as well as hang out with a bunch of plant branches and a weird untasty citrus fruit in

@anarchiv don't thank our god just yet because we're not even halfway through sukkot week yet, not to say anything about simchat torah

extremely stupid and obvious joke that countless others before me had surely come up with but that i must nonetheless take it upon myself to post it here too; also food related

me when i enter the bakery in germany: gluten tag!

i'm stupid, re: weird?, language, pregnancy

aaaaaahhhhhhhh okkkkkkkkk aaaaaaa

it's not exactly "fruit" in this sense, it's more like "fertility" or "creation" because it's a biblical expressionnnnnn and i was thinking in modern hebrewwewwwww

yeah ok that makes much more sense lmao

weird?, language, pregnancy

okay what.

so i'm looking through an israeli sign dictionary, and the entry for "embryo" needs to be disambiguated from the word "passing" due to hebrew spelling quirks (the hebrew words are /ubar/ vs /over/, respectively, both spelled עובר)

so to disambiguate, they didn't enter it as "עובר (unborn baby)" or whatever -- instead they chose "עובר (fruit of the stomach)"

like WHAT

i was today years old when i realized rainfall is measured in units of speed

oh no

adhd hack: need to use your desk but it's full of piles of random garbage? just move those piles out of the fucking way into a bigger unified pile right /next to/ your desk! you're welcome
