Why do recruiters think people actually want to live in NJ, CT, GA, WI, etc. They're all crap places to live.

@Daxarhagron My dad told me once that his workplace, an international company, had offered him a promotion that would have required moving the entire family to the middle of nowhere in Siberia. The conversation as it was relayed to me was along the lines of "So I know you're going to say no but my boss said I have to ask you: do you want to move to Siberia?"

@Felthry wow...just..that would be a giant no for me too haha

@Daxarhagron Apparently the company sunk billions of dollars into an installation out there, building basically an entire city for its workers--and then had a lot of trouble getting anyone to move out there.

I wonder if they ever did get people to move out there.

@Felthry that certainly sounds like a boneheaded move by a company with too much money. Sounds like IBM or Cisco.

@Daxarhagron Not quite so boneheaded. Siberia has abundant natural resources that could be used to make the company's product, so it makes sense on the "this is a good place for it" side, but not so much on the "we'll find people who want to work out here" side.
