COVID, the news gets worse (----)

There's good support in the primary literature that this thing spreads via airborne aerosol.

It that's true, there's no stopping it. Hand washing and social distancing won't keep you safe. If someone in your home, workplace, apartment complex, or grocery store has it, you will get it.

At this point it's just a matter of time. We'll all be getting it.

@Phorm Full airborne transmission isn't consistent with that we're seeing, even accounting for testing problems. Dude walking a convention hall only infected a few people that we know of..all with close contact.

Past that even measles doesn't get to literally everyone and that one is kind of comedic as to how easily it spreads.

@Doephin Data collected elsewhere sure doesn't seem consistent with droplet transmission, though. The cruise ships and apartment building outbreak data suggest more than that. And viral RNA has been observed in hospitals in areas only consistent with airborne transmission.

It's maybe a function of our blindness to asymptomatic and/or mild cases. We really don't know who actually is infected, nor do we know a realistic r0.

@Phorm The cruise ship had really bad isolation procedure. That's most of it.

Viral RNA doesn't mean infectious material. A virus that has been physically destroyed is still going to be detectable for a while as RNA until it degrades.
