Complaining about Food Safety, Virus-Adjacent
I tried to use grocery pick-up today, instead of physically entering the store as I normally do. Due to, you know, the extremely contagious virus that's causing 2,000+ new cases per day in my neck of the woods.
How the actual hell do people use this service? The ice cream I ordered was practically a liquid. The frozen foods were entirely thawed. I checked the temperature of the chicken I ordered when I got it home, and it was _50 degrees Fahrenheit_, 10 degrees OVER the safe storage temperature. And who knows for how long it was? Did they just assemble all this stuff hours ago and let it sit on a counter or something? I told them I was leaving for the store 10 minutes before I arrived, so I would have hoped they'd have kept the food properly stored until then.
I can't trust ANY of the perishable goods I purchased. I have to throw it all out, or else get REALLY sick, and that's not something I want to risk in the current climate.
I'm on hold to complain about this and get a refund, but I doubt I'll have much luck.
What a tremendous waste of money.

@Phorm what they do instead here is throw your entire order in the freezer. this avoids what you got but is sub optimal for, say, any fresh food
It would be nice if delivery and pickup were actually functional :/
I suppose ordering the dry goods ahead then getting the rest in store at least minimizes exposure time

@Phorm Nah it matters. Even if you catch it less initial colonization is a Good Thing
I heard the same "it's inevitable" about Delta. And yeah this one's faster but it's not magic. Ultra fast spread yes but most people mask badly of at all..
Hell mom's nursing home had an outbreak and beat it back with just 3 cases.
