They called it "Resiliency". Originally made for combat teams, the spell connects bodies. What one is lacking the other provides, as much as it can. Your buddy gets hit? Your body helps provide blood automagically. That was the original plan
It isn't clear who first realized it could do more, or found the power to make it permanent, but soon networks of it were spreading.

A team is one thing but with hundreds, thousands of people sharing blood, calories, nutirients? Now it lived up to the name. Problems suddenly shifted from personal to population. No one was hungry unless everyone was. Injury was suddenly safer. Disease too.
To this day no one knows who first spread it. The only hint is a single override in the new version: hormones in a link are given by identity- not the recipient's stock biology..
