Bravely Default
Bravely Default is a game that we passed over initially. That was a mistake; this game is excellent! And some of its music is truly outstanding, like this boss battle theme.
Strings and electric guitar as the main instruments seems an unusual choice, but one I've found to be in several of our favorite pieces. Sometimes there's a synthesizer too, though not in this case.

but i did buy one of the theatrhythm games specifically because That Person's Name Is was available as DLC and then never played any other songs
@monorail Eheheh. There's a lot of good stuff in Theatrhythm! Only rhythm game we could ever get into due to just the style of music being the one style we find tolerable

...now I feel the need to urge you to play Final Fantasy games
@Felthry i'm sure i'd like them but i don't think i have the attention span for any real (i.e. "non-pokemon") jrpgs these days
all the games i play are designed for short sessions, like online multiplayer games or stuff like isaac where you beat the game in a single sitting and just do that hundreds of times
@monorail oh I see! Well that's fair enough, personally I just can't get into a game that doesn't have a deep, lengthy story to it
