@daylight was going to ask this on retrospring but then it said the question was too long so you get it here:
What happens if an animal with an exoskeleton or carapace (are those even different things) gets overweight? does the exoskeleton get larger to accommodate, or do those animals just not store fat in the same way as vertebrates, or is there something different entirely?

@Felthry if its an insect or an arachnid their stomach is in their abdomen which can expand to a degree. Idk how marine crustaceans work. they molt when they get too big for their shell so if they do store fat thatll be part of that too big.
if they gt extremely too big they'll die because the molt will be too exhausting/difficult to complete

@daylight yeah I kinda figured there'd be some difficulty with getting too big. I don't honestly know why I suddenly thought of this question, I think I just saw a picture of a lobster and thought "huh, I've never seen a chubby lobster before, I wonder if that's even a thing that can happen"
