playing the harry potter 1 psx game because why not and
did they playtest this at all? this is _extremely_ difficult, and not in a good way
there are mandatory sections where you have to try to collect things while on a gringotts minecart with wonky physics, and the screen rotates every which way but the warnings saying "obstacle ahead" or "collectible ahead" point the same way regardless of screen rotation
@Felthry ooh that's pretty bad
if you're playing on an emulator you could at least remap the emulator controls, I guess?
@Dex nah, playing on ps3
on top of that the playstation analog sticks have always felt too light and imprecise compared to the gamecube and wii ones with their detents to help you hold the orthogonal directions well
@Felthry I'm OK with most PS controllers but I never got on well with the DS3 - still, I generally prefer the Xbox 360 layout
@Dex gamecube controller remains the best one we've used
xbox 360 is good too but loses points for the abysmal dpad, not that the gcn was much better, but at least you didn't need to use it much on the gamecube
@Dex okay well turns out the second game has the same backwards camera controls, but this one at least lets you use the right stick for them
what is so hard about "move the stick left/press the left button to look left"
@Felthry it's common to a lot of games of the era, unfortunately, and it's before inverting the horizontal camera became common as an option
@Dex What I don't understand is why
Why would they make it so that pressing left turns the camera right?
@Dex part of that could be the controls though. camera control is inverted from what we're used to and it can't be changed, and though it does support analog input the right stick does nothing
