I have Strong Opinions on strange things that most people don't even know exists
like whenever TO-247 is an option I'll use that over TO-220 any day
I would rather use a Microchip, Linear Technology, or Analog Devices device than a TI or Maxim one
solderless breadboards are a necessary evil but an evil nonetheless
30 mil trace width minimum when I can get away with it
SOT-23 is good, SOT-23-6 is bad
I am not a fan of TO-263s or TO-253s. (an unpopular opinion but they're hard to solder)
@Felthry what's wrong with breadboards
they're super good for prototyping or like, building something you plan to take apart later
@monorail given that our area of expertise, such as it is, is high-frequency, high-power switching converters...
@Felthry yeah that's fair
i don't think they're evil though! just not that useful for u
@monorail calling them an evil might be exaggeration
we have encountered tons of people who can't figure out why their 20MHz oscillator won't oscillate on a breadboard though, and it's kind of frustrating that they never teach people about the downsides of things like that
also I like surface mount components
@Felthry those are both very good reasons to not make certain things on breadboards but for "hey i bet i can make an arduino drive this motor" they're very good
